In this dizzying, consumer-driven world<\/p>\n
where we are what we buy<\/p>\n
we are no longer concerned about what we create,<\/p>\n
what we produce \u2013 our being, our doing, our making<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
life is a mall alley and we are challenged<\/p>\n
to put as much as we can in our shopping carts<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
so, like DeNiro in the Mission, we drag our purchases along<\/p>\n
through each phase of life\u2026 and in the end, to have it sorted<\/p>\n
by an auctioneer or a Salvation Army volunteer \u2013<\/p>\n
and, the legacy we had hoped for<\/p>\n
becomes, simply, a legacy we must accept \u2013 not of our making,<\/p>\n
and reflecting nothing of our soul<\/p>\n

hinging on a decent Sally Ann cheque for deposit into our Estate<\/p>\n
