{"id":10984,"date":"2020-01-24T07:00:57","date_gmt":"2020-01-24T12:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bygeorgejournal.ca\/?p=10984"},"modified":"2020-01-21T22:59:10","modified_gmt":"2020-01-22T03:59:10","slug":"seemingly-in-a-permanent-state-of-reflective-discomfort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bygeorgejournal.ca\/?p=10984","title":{"rendered":"Seemingly in a permanent state of reflective discomfort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At 42, I\u2019m content.<\/p>\n<p>I am sitting in my easy chair,<\/p>\n<p>surveying my blessings<\/p>\n<p>My only desire seems to be a yearning<\/p>\n<p>to \u2018freeze-frame\u2019 this happiness<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Is there anything more to say\u2026 I think not\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Honestly,<\/p>\n<p>this state of mind has driven out any aspirations<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever been so honest with myself<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Yet, there is much to ponder:<\/p>\n<p>If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth and power, but for the passionate sense of potential \u2013 for the eye that, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints; possibility never. <em>\u2013 Soren Kierkegaard<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>So, I wish to redefine and refine myself<\/p>\n<p>to illuminate the darken corners of my world<\/p>\n<p>with energy, hope, inspiration<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I ponder all of this often \u2013 of course, with my feet up<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>Chris George\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>From the collection entitled \u201cAt 42\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>June 2004<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>At 42, I\u2019m content.
