allowing her tears to fall onto my jacket<\/p>\n

I could sense she knew the ways of lovers<\/p>\n
and the way lovers smile<\/p>\n
and how they say hello and how they will whisper goodbye.<\/p>\n
As she struggled to find some comfort<\/p>\n
her lips rested on my wet shoulder<\/p>\n
and there were a few mumbled words<\/p>\n
a tug of my arm and her hand on mine<\/p>\n
and I allowed her fingers to find my palm.<\/p>\n
(It was a simple gesture of kindness)<\/p>\n
I consciously stiffened as I began to clear my throat.<\/p>\n
