This reflection from 2009 caught my eye&#8230;<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-4634\" alt=\"canadiens-logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bygeorgejournal.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/canadiens-logo.jpg\" width=\"297\" height=\"246\" \/>In talking of the golden era of hockey, I\u2019d have to say the Montreal Canadiens franchise of the late 60\u2032s through the 70\u2032s was the very best of the game. In my humble opinion, the Habs of that time produced what could be considered \u201cthe ultimate hockey line.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Goal: Jacques Plante (#1 netminder through the 50\u2032s and early 60\u2032s)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">\u201cD\u201d: Larry Robinson and Serge Savard (and, of course,\u00a0the third amigo \u2013 Guy Lapointe)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Centre: Jean Beliveau (\u201cThe Gentleman of Hockey\u201d who retired after hoisting the Cup in \u201971) <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Right wing:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Guy Lafleur (Who can forget the chants of \u201cGuy, Guy, Guy\u201d that rocked the Forum)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Left wing:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Bob Gainey (The best two-way player \u2013 ever)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">So much for my picks\u2026. I was keenly interested to see the selection of the all-time best Canadians, picked by their loyal fans. Here are the results of the franchise\u2019s \u201cFans Choice\u201d survey: <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Goal:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Patrick Roy (and then Ken Dryden and Jacques Plante)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Defense:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Larry Robinson, Doug Harvey, Serge Savard, Andre Markov, Guy Lapointe, and Chris Chelios \u2013 in that order<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Centre:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Jean Beliveau (and then Henri Richard and Howie Morenz)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Right Wing\u00a0:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Maurice Richard (followed by Guy Lafleur and Yvan Cournoyer)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Left Wing:<span style=\"mso-spacerun: yes;\">\u00a0 <\/span>Toe Blake (followed by Bob Gainey, Steve Shutt and then Frank Mahovlich)<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Georgia;\">Check out the full <a href=\"http:\/\/canadiens.nhl.com\/club\/page.htm?id=58905\" target=\"_blank\">Fans Choice voting.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 Long live the Habs!
