Another timeless, hazy day lakeside<\/p>\nAnother timeless, hazy day lakeside<\/p>\n
so much of so very little on my mind.<\/p>\n
The opposite shore is a curtain of beech and pines,<\/p>\n
their tips jut out against a pale blue canvass.<\/p>\n
There is no pattern; yet with every scan of the tree-line<\/p>\n
there\u2019s a comfort in seeing how earth meets heavenly skies.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m lulled by sounds of a continuous lapping against a rocky edge,<\/p>\n
a soft melody passed on through the ages. Slaps of water, time and time again\u2026<\/p>\n
carrying all things to this place; and, from this place…<\/p>\n
I gaze, then peer deep into the water beside the dock,<\/p>\n
only catching mosaic reflections of cloud and green darkness.<\/p>\n
Dancing ripples advance across the surface of the water;<\/p>\n
it\u2019s the single chaotic motion on this still day.<\/p>\n
and my attempts to follow one proves pointless \u2013 as each ripple will rise to fall,<\/p>\n
and, then, seemingly rise again.<\/p>\n

A sighting:\u00a0 a solitary loon stretches out its wings<\/p>\n
then folds them neatly back in before it tucks and dives –<\/p>\n
a sideways descent into eternity.<\/p>\n
Just how long might I hold my breath<\/p>\n
so I may be graced with this day forever?<\/p>\n
