(Here’s the test – an absolute favourite of By George’s. Place yourself as the visitor and answer the question posed in this scenario.)

During a visit to a mental asylum, a visitor asked the Director what the criteria was which defined whether or not a patient should be institutionalized.

“Well,” said the Director, “we fill up a bathtub, then we offer a teaspoon, a teacup and a bucket to the patient.”

“We then ask him or her to empty the bathtub.”

The visitor answers, “Yes, well, a normal person would use the bucket because it’s bigger than the teaspoon or the teacup…”

Answer: “The bucket.”

Correct?!  (What do you think?)

“Well, no,” said the Director.

“A normal person would pull the plug.”
