Now here is a lovely cycle route that takes you through all the hamlets of Mississippi Mills: Almonte, Appleton, Ramsay, Clayton, Bennies Corners, Blakeney, and Pakenham. The 100 km loop is the feature ride of bike month in Mississippi Mills and it will often attract cyclists from Ottawa and up the Valley.
Admittedly, this is one of my favourite local rides because you can see so much of our community! Of course, you will want to start and finish this ride in Almonte…
- From the Old Town Hall turn right on Mill Street, left on Main Street to Appleton Side Road – 2.3 km
- Right on Appleton Side Road, pass by the museum turn to the second River Road entry – 10.2 km
- Right on River Road into Appleton, over the bridge and out on Wilson to Fairway Crescent – 4 km
- Left onto Fairway / left onto County Road 29 / right onto Pick Street to Ramsay Concession 8 – 2 km
- Right on Ramsay 8 to Drummond Road – 2.4 km
- Left on Drummond / Right on Ramsay Con. 7A / Right on Rae Road back onto Ramsay 8 – 6 km
- Left on Ramsay 8 to Clayton Road – 6 km
- Left on Clayton Road to Tatlock Road – 8 km
- Right on Tatlock / ver right at Clayton General Store onto Bellamy Mills Road (to its end) – 8.5 km
- Left onto Ramsay Con 7B / right onto Bennies Corner Road through to the rapids in Blakeney – 4.4 km
- Proceed on Blakeney Road (two lefts) to Panmure Road – 3 km
- Right on Panmure to 12th Con South Pakenham – 2 km
- Left on 12th Con South Pakenham to its end at the Dark Side Road – 6.8 km
- Left on Dark Side Road into Pakenham over 5-span bridge / left on Main Street to Waba Road – 1 km
- Right on Waba to Barr Side Road / left on Barr to Concession Road 10 – 5 km
- Ver Right onto Con Road 10 / right on Waba Road / left on Shaw Road to Concession Road 12 – 4.5 km
- Right on Con Road 12 / right on Barr Side Road / left on Barr back into Pakenham – 7.4 km
- Left at main corner in Pakenham / back across 5-span bridge to Blakeney Road – 1 km
- Right on Blakeney Road wind back through to Blakeney and corner of Martin Street North – 9.5 km
- Left on Martin Street North into Almonte / through lights back to Old Town Hall – 6 km
