On the eve of Canada’s federal budget address, here is a message from the Canadian Taxpayer Federation:
The 2009 federal budget represented the largest spending increase in Canadian history, and the largest deficit ever recorded. Last year, the feds borrowed $153-million a day! If taxpayers don’t make their voices heard, we can be assured this year’s budget will be equally reckless….
The message is real simple: we can’t borrow our way into prosperity, Mr. Minister. We can’t afford the inevitably higher taxes necessary to pay for this reckless path. Since coming to office in 2006, the Conservatives have increased the size of government 31%. Enough! It’s time to cut spending and legislate a plan to balance the budget.
